Acidified Food Processor Training PDF Print E-mail

The Wyoming Department of Agriculture and the Wyoming Farmers Marketing Association are sponsoring an Acidified Food Processor Training session on June 26, 2014 in Cheyenne at the Laramie County Community College Training Center.

This training session is for any acidified food processor or potential processor who has not met the requirements of the Federal Code of Regulations 21 CFR Part 114.10 that states operators shall have personnel to supervise processes that have completed an approved course. This includes processors that work with beans, cucumbers, cabbage, artichokes, cauliflower, peppers, salsas, some sauces, and fish among others.

The course will be taught by Brian Nummer (PhD) from Utah State University and will cover FDA regulations, microbiology of thermally processed foods, principles of acidified foods, food container handling, records and recordkeeping and hands on exercises with pH meters.

The registration fee for this course is $75.00 and the deadline for registration is June, 20, 2014. The course will go from 8:00 a.m. and will end at 6:00 p.m. Participants can register online at http://wyacidifiedtraining.eventbrite.com. Food Council to Meet PDF Print E-mail

The Governor’s Food Safety Council will meet April 16, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the WY Dept of Agriculture conference room, 2219 Carey Ave., Cheyenne.

Agenda items include; review proposed changes to Teton Health District Food Safety Rule and election of chairperson.

Board of Ag Meeting April 14-15 PDF Print E-mail

The Wyoming Board of Agriculture will be holding a meeting starting at 1 p.m. on April 14 in Cheyenne at the Wyoming Department of Agriculture Main Office.

The Board of Agriculture will meet on April 14 from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 4:15 p.m. and April 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. During the meeting, the Board will elect a new President and Vice President, review the policy book, and receive updates from Wyoming Department of Agriculture staff, the Wyoming Beef Council, Wyoming Ag in the Classroom, and others. The board will also review liaison assignments, meeting dates/locations for the remainder of the year and introduce and appoint the State Chemist.

There will be a chance for public comment and the public is encouraged to attend the meeting.

The Board of Agriculture enforces the rules and regulations of the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. Seven board members are appointed by the governor for six-year terms to represent geographical areas of the state. Board members include: Jana Ginter, District 1; Jim Hodder, District 2; Shaun Sims, District 3; John Moore, District 4; Alison Lass, District 5; Bryan Brost, District 6; and Jim Price Jr., District 7. Youth Board Members include: vacant, Southeast; Richard Schlenker, Northwest; vacant, Southwest; and Cameron Smith, Northeast.

Wyoming Board of Agriculture to Meet During Legislature on February 18-20

CHEYENNE (February 13, 2014) - The Wyoming Board of Agriculture will be holding a meeting starting at 1 p.m. on February 18th in Cheyenne at the Wyoming Department of Agriculture Main Office.

The Board of Agriculture will meet on Feb 18 from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m., February 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and February 20 from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During the meeting, the Board will attend the Senate Ag Committee on February 18 and the House Ag Committee Meeting on February 20. Items on the agenda include Water Quality Program reports, RHAP extensions and reports, a review of RHAP applications, and Agriculture Producer Research Grant Program application reviews.

There will be a chance for public comment and the public is encouraged to attend the meeting.
